RESIGNATION PRESIDENT CLAN MACKENZIE SOCIETY OF CANADA

It is with much regret that I will be resigning as President of the Clan Mackenzie Society of Canada.

Some 20 plus years have passed since I became involved with Clan MacKenzie in Canada. In all of those years I believe that I have supported and assisted the Clan whereever I could. This consisted in attending highland games throughout the Province of Ontario as well as some events in the USA, Canada and Clan Gatherings in Scotland.

In the early years I worked closely with Alan MacKenzie of Burlington (now deceased) in the development of our first tents and displays. In the last decade I have been very actively involved in the purchase of the clan van and the clan identity on the van as well as the purchase of our present tent and the clan history and display within the tent. I have been very much involved in the sourcing and purchase of many of the products that we have listed for sale on the website. Some of the suppliers were found and contacted during visits to Scotland.

Much of the last 3 years has seen a considerable amount of my time in the design of the website. This involved many hours of working with the web designer photographing the products and the items for the tent backdrops.

A facility had to be found for the storage of the clan tent, tables, chairs and clan products etc, which included the erection of a considerable amount of shelving. This has been followed with annual stock taking and loading the van for the start of the games season, followed by the unloading of the van at the end of the games season and putting the stock back on the shelves and another stock taking.

Much of the above required considerable travel and time between Toronto, Brampton and Oakville.

It is with further regret that I will not be able to carry out what plans I had for the Clan Society in the future. I will still remain a member of the Society.

The resignation will take effect following my attending a new Celtic Festival which is to take place in Innisfil, Ontario in September.
